Masked
Ok, fair enough: Most of you can probably buy organic tomatoes, craft beer, or recycled paper goods at your local grocery stores . . . but I'm guessing you can't get tamales or these handsome handmade wrestling masks in the parking lot, like I can. What's your favorite quirky supermarket buy these days?

Long time reader, first time commenter. Baby cologne. They sell 4 or 5 scents at Jimenez and at the local CVS.
If you shop @ Aldi like I do, you can find rice cookers, razor scooters and fake Crocs shoes alongside each other.
In my former neighborhood in Greeley, Colorado, there was actually a woman who'd ride around on a bike selling homemade tamales out of a cooler strapped the the back. She'd call out "tamales!" as she rode around. Talk about local color--so, needless to say, the city cracked down on her (unsafe food service, or some such), and that was the end of that.
I can't tell you how jealous I am that you can buy wrestling masks in your neighborhood. If I could, I'd buy one tonight and wear it to teach tomorrow. Oh, and I'd need to learn to say, "I will destroy you!" in Spanish.
My most recent favorite quirky buy is crackers at the Asian market--great packaging.
Despite its ease of living, there is NOTHING in Lawrence that can hold a candle to Lucha libre! You win, hands down.
I'm starting to get ideas for Christmas presents! And Trisha, is that why Frances always smells so April fresh?
